Cookie Policy

1. What Are Cookies

Cookies are small text files stored on your device when you visit a website. They are widely used to make websites work efficiently and to provide information to the site operator. The Service also uses browser localStorage and sessionStorage, which operate similarly to cookies but remain on your device rather than being sent to our servers with each request.

This Cookie Policy explains what cookies and similar technologies we use, why we use them, and your choices regarding their use. For broader information on how we handle your personal data, see our Privacy Policy.

2. Cookies We Use

2.1 Strictly Necessary Cookies

These cookies are essential for the Service to function and cannot be disabled. Without them, you would not be able to log in, maintain a session, or use core features of the platform.

Name / PatternProviderPurposeExpiry
__session, __client_uatClerkAuthentication session token — keeps you logged inSession / 1 year
__clerk_db_jwtClerkSecure JWT for API authenticationSession
__Host-next-auth.*Vercel / Next.jsRouting and middleware session stateSession

2.2 Functional Local Storage

We use browser localStorage for features that improve your experience but are not strictly required for the Service to work. This data stays on your device and is not transmitted to our servers.

KeyPurposeExpiry
pitchfilthy-themeRemembers your light/dark mode preferencePersistent until cleared
pitchfilthy_onboardedRemembers that you have completed the initial onboarding walkthroughPersistent until cleared
pitchfilthy_cat_print_optsRemembers your print/layout options for catcher reportsPersistent until cleared

When you are signed in, your light/dark display-mode preference is additionally saved to your account so it follows you across devices — see our Privacy Policy.

2.3 Session Storage

We use browser sessionStorage — which is cleared automatically when you close the browser tab — for short-lived state that makes the dashboard work smoothly. This includes a cached copy of your organization role (so the correct navigation renders without a round-trip) and temporary keys used to hand a selected CSV or report off between pages when you generate or regenerate a report. This data stays on your device and is not transmitted to our servers as cookies.

2.4 Third-Party Cookies

Our authentication provider, Clerk, may set additional cookies on their own domains during the sign-in flow. These are governed by Clerk's Privacy Policy.

Our hosting provider, Vercel, may collect anonymized usage metrics. These are governed by Vercel's Privacy Policy.

We use PostHog for first-party product analytics to understand how the Service is used and improve it. PostHog sets cookies to measure usage and may capture session recordings in which all form inputs (such as email and payment fields) are masked. It is configured for first-party analytics only and does not track you across other websites; its processing is governed by PostHog's Privacy Policy.

We do not use advertising cookies, retargeting cookies, or cross-site behavioral tracking that follows you across other websites.

3. Analytics and What We Don't Use

Aside from the first-party product analytics described above (PostHog), we keep cookie usage minimal. We do not use:

  • Advertising or retargeting cookies
  • Social media tracking pixels
  • Cross-site behavioral tracking that follows you across other websites

Our goal is to collect only what is necessary to operate and improve the Service.

4. How to Manage Cookies

You can control and manage cookies through your browser settings. Most browsers allow you to:

  • View what cookies are set and delete individual cookies
  • Block cookies from specific websites
  • Block all cookies (though this will prevent you from logging in to the Service)
  • Clear all cookies when you close the browser

Instructions for managing cookies in common browsers:

To clear localStorage in your browser, open Developer Tools (F12), navigate to Application → Local Storage, and delete the entries for pitchfilthy.com.

Note: Disabling strictly necessary cookies (particularly Clerk authentication cookies) will prevent you from signing in or remaining logged in to the Service.

5. Do Not Track

Some browsers offer a "Do Not Track" (DNT) setting that signals to websites that you do not want to be tracked across sites. PitchFilthy does not currently respond to DNT signals. Because we do not use cross-site advertising or behavioral tracking technologies, DNT signals have no additional practical effect on how we operate — we do not track your activity across other websites regardless of your DNT setting.

California and Nevada residents: we disclose this as required by applicable state law. We do not sell personal information, and this practice does not change based on DNT signals.

6. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Cookie Policy from time to time. When we make changes, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. We encourage you to review this page periodically.
